As the sun shines through my window, its warmth illuminates the canvas of my life. A world of colors, shapes, and endless creativity surrounds me. Volunteering as an Art Coach with CoachArt has been a journey of significant importance, where each brushstroke becomes a testament to the transformative power of art.
CoachArt is a non-profit organization that offers free arts and athletics classes to children who are suffering from chronic illnesses and disabilities. Through the CoachArt Connect app, volunteers are matched with a young person based on shared interests such as painting, basketball, yoga, guitar, and more. The initial commitment is only four 1-hour lessons, which can be conducted online or in person. This is a wonderful chance for people residing in the 904 area to create a positive influence both within their community and beyond. In-person coaching for children is also available for those who register in our area. If you are looking after a child who is affected by a chronic illness, you can register your child here to receive free lessons. The more volunteers and children who sign up in our community, the greater the positive impact we can have on our local area.
Additionally, CoachArt covers the cost of materials and also provides a Coaches Corner to assist you in developing lesson plans. The organization welcomed me with open arms and invited me to discover a world where empathy meets creativity. With great enthusiasm and a heart full of compassion, I set out on a new journey to share the wonders of art with young minds.
I look forward to the weekly virtual sessions where I guide these exceptional children through the wonderful worlds of drawing, painting, pottery, and fashion. Despite the physical distance, art connects us and unites us in a shared passion for creation. One of the most rewarding aspects of being an Art Coach with CoachArt is seeing the immense joy and sense of accomplishment that radiates from my students with each masterpiece they create. For some, art is a sanctuary where they can express themselves freely without any constraints. For others, it is a way to discover themselves, unlock hidden talents, and nurture a sense of self-worth.
As an Art Coach, my job goes beyond just teaching technical skills. I create a nurturing environment where children feel empowered to unleash their creativity, regardless of their abilities. Every session is a testament to the resilience and potential that reside within every child, waiting to be nurtured and celebrated.
